Marikit - Crochet Pattern

Marikit - Crochet Pattern

Hi everyone! My name is Elisa, the maker and designer behind Strings and Cuddles. I am thrilled to be the first designer to write a blog post and share a free pattern for Rena's Thread and Crafts. When Rena approached me about designing a new pattern to be featured in her blog, I didn't hesitate. I said Yes!

Today, I am sharing my fanciful yet elegant and easy-to-make design featuring Rena's Thread and Crafts' 8-Ply Polyester Gradient Yarn. I have always wanted to design a frilly neck or shoulder accessory, and the timing of Rena is just perfect!

So, without any further delay, let me introduce you, Marikit! She is a lovely capelet or poncho that can be worn all year round! This beauty is designed to add elegance to your outfit—on any occasion! The best thing about Marikit is that it can be styled two in ways! You can place the button in front or back—your choice!

Marikit is a Filipino term for "beautiful" and "pretty." We thought that this project, especially the added flowers, was cute and pretty, so we decided to use that word in our native language as the name for our pattern. Both Rena and I are Filipinas transplanted to the beautiful country of the USA. We haven't met in person yet, but our love for yarn and crochet brought us together. Now, we are friends!

The yarn that I used to make Marikit is gorgeous, and the color transition is magnificent! The pattern design may look complicated, but, I tell you, it is not at all. This project can easily be done in a day or two, which makes a great gift!

Let's dive into the pattern to get started!
