Perk up Your Yarn Journey with Festivals of the World Colorways (Part 1)
Hello, crafty friends!
Make your yarn journey with Rena’s Thread and Crafts more colorful as you welcome the fall season.
I am excited to share that, while we were conceptualizing for this fall, we ended up with an idea on how to celebrate the colors of autumn and every season all year long.
To do that, we bring you a special yarn collection inspired by the 10 festivals of the world with all their hues that you can choose from as you celebrate their festivities throughout the year. Heads up: this is the first of a two-part series about this topic, so stay tuned.
Come, and take a world tour with me through this blog. Let’s talk about the first five festivals, their rich and vivid colors, and a sneak peek at our yarn cakes to spice up your anticipation this autumn.
1. Mardi Gras (New Orleans, USA)

Our first stop is in New Orleans, USA, where we get to experience its glorious and vibrant parades and striking costumes inspired by its pre-Lenten celebration called “Mardi Gras,” a French phrase that literally means “Fat Tuesday.”
The colors of Mardi Gras are royal purple (justice), emerald green (faith), deep indigo (night magic), bright gold (riches), and white (cleanliness).
Here is our Mardi Gras-inspired colorway, at your disposal if you want to create Mardi Gras costumes or yarn-crafted pieces such as hats, masks, scarves, and headbands with fleur-de-lis designs:
2. Illuminate Adelaide (Adelaide, Australia)

If you’re looking for some electric touches, be inspired by Australia’s Illuminate Adelaide. This festivity is celebrated during winter, when the city glows with eccentric light shows as people enjoy interactive activities infused with music, art, and technology.
This festival’s colors encompass electric blue, deep violet, fuchsia pink, soft silver, and bright white.

3. Quebec Winter Carnival (Quebec City, Canada)

Another winter celebration is Quebec’s Winter Carnival. Packed with snow sculptures and night parades, this ten-day festivity honors the Nordic culture. It also features musical nights that fascinate tourists with its fairy tale-themed wonderland.
Quebec Winter Carnival is deemed one of the biggest winter festivals in the world, so you must be ready to have a dash of winter in your creations to join the celebration. Consider these colors when you create fantastical costumes or accessories for the occasion: Bonhomme red, ice blue, snowy white, midnight blue, and golden yellow.
Here are our yarns specifically made for it:
4. Día de los Muertos (Mexico)

Once a year, Mexico remembers its departed loved ones and turns mourning into celebration through Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The celebration is filled with colors that reflect life: marigold orange, hot pink, deep purple, and vibrant turquoise.

5. Cherry Blossom Festival (Japan)

What can be more delightful in spring than noticing the momentary bliss of blossoming flora? That’s why Japan celebrates the sakura bloom to honor life’s fleeting nature and its symbolism of the country’s culture. It also represents renewal and a commemoration of friendship between Tokyo and Washington, D.C.
Taking part in the celebration means going out for picnics under the blooming sakura trees. The festivity comes with the harmony of soft blush pink, creamy white, pale gray, and spring green, which are all gradients of cherry blossom.
Don’t miss these yarns to complete your sakura-themed pieces:
I am thrilled to launch these colorways for our Festivals of the World collection on October 15. Remember that this is just part one of the blog series, so stay updated for more festivities and exciting yarn hues that are coming your way.
Happy crafting!
Rena
